Extra Life

I have been a gamer for most of my life and I’m extremely grateful to be an annual participant in the Extra Life charity gaming event to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

I began my extra life journey in 2015 when I was the marketing director for Emagination Computer Camps, a nationwide summer STEM program for kids and teens. Our mission there was to educate, entertain and help develop healthy kids. When I learned about Extra Life, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to promote the camp and continue to help fulfill our mission.

Even though I am no longer working at Emagination, I continue to play and raise money because this organization offers me the opportunity to continuously say thank you to the doctors and facilities that helped save MY life as a kid.

When I was a child, I was a patient at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine. I’d been admitted around Christmas 1998 with stomach pain. The doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with me and sent me home. However, when the pain failed to go away, I was readmitted and, after some scans, we learned that my appendix had become enflamed, gangrene, and on the verge of bursting.

I was immediately brought in for surgery and had it removed. Later, I learned that the doctor who’d performed the procedure told my mother that if we hadn’t caught this sooner, or I didn’t have access to modern medicine, I would have died.

Long story short, I owe my life to the doctors at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

Although I don’t have a platform as big as some other participants, I am extremely proud of the fundraising we’ve been able to do. I know it isn’t an Earth-shattering amount of money, but every penny counts – especially when it comes to helping sick and injured kids.

If you’re able, it would mean the world to me if you could click on the donate button and help the cause. No donation is too big or too small. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the hospital and the patients.
